Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan has been commemorated by the Fatih Municipality on the 498th Anniversary of His Death.
After the Friday prayer, a commemoration ceremony has been performed in the Yavuz Selim Mosque on the 498th anniversary of Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan’s death.
First of all, Former Minister of Youth and Sports and Ak Party Rize Deputy Osman Aşkın Bak visited Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan’s Tomb with Ak Party Istanbul Deputy Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı, and Fatih Mayor Hasan Suver, and Ak Party Fatih District Head Orhan Narin. Following the tomb visit, the citizens were offered with pilaf with meat, ayran and ashura in the program that was started with the anthems played by the Fatih Municipality Janissary Band.
Fatih Mayor Hasan Suver said the following in the program: “We are commemorating, understanding, and trying to explain our values like Yavuz Sultan Selim Khan. We need to do it in order for our next generations to carry out such a historical and civil responsibility as well. These are the children… We, who are at the age of 50-60, will not be here 20-30 years later. The children here among us need to internalize the present values and experience them so as to be able to represent us after we passed away.”
